A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, November 15, when the body of a 20-year-old woman was pulled from the River Tees in Barnard Castle, County Durham. According to reports, emergency services were called just before 2 pm to respond to a kayaker in difficulty in the river.
Firefighters, paramedics, police, the coastguard, and a search and mountain rescue team all rushed to the scene to assist in the search and rescue efforts. Sadly, the body of the young woman was recovered just after 4 pm. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
The North East Ambulance Service confirmed they had dispatched multiple crews, including a clinical team leader, a duty officer, and three crews from their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), as well as requesting support from the mountain rescue team and the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
This tragic incident has left the community of Barnard Castle in shock, and the authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the young woman's death.
