The victims were identified as Sukhlal Pasi, 40, and his 12-year-old son Ayush. Sukhlal, a daily wage worker, was traveling with his wife Pushpa Pasi, 38, and their four children - Muskan, 22, Sagun, 17, Lado, 8, and Ayush - in the autorickshaw driven by his nephew Mithun Pasi, 22. The family was headed to Sairpur's Paschim village to discuss Muskan's marriage proposal.

As the vehicle reached the Raitha Road near the Dhatinagra trisection, a speeding van (registration number UP32 LU 6142) coming from the opposite direction rammed into the autorickshaw. Sukhlal died on the spot, while Ayush succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the trauma center. The other passengers, including Mithun, Atul Pasi, Pushpa, Muskan, and Lado, sustained grievous injuries and are currently in critical condition at the Trauma Center.

The van driver, identified as Pawan Yadav, fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Mithun's brother, Rishi Kumar. Authorities are now working to trace the whereabouts of the absconding van driver.
