Toyota Recall: Fuel Leak Sparks Fire Risk Fears
22 Oct
Summary
- Over 105,000 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid vehicles are recalled.
- A faulty fuel tube connection poses a risk of fuel leakage and fire.
- Dealers will inspect and install a supplemental clamp to fix the issue.
Toyota has announced a significant recall impacting over 105,000 vehicles, specifically the 2024-2027 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid models. The recall, initiated on October 14, addresses a potential fuel leak issue that could lead to fires.
The concern stems from a resin fuel tube connected to a metal fuel tube near the fuel tank. This connection may loosen or disconnect, resulting in fuel leakage. If fuel leaks and an ignition source is present, the risk of a vehicle fire increases.
Toyota has reported 23 field technical reports and 64 warranty claims in the U.S. that may be associated with this defect as of early October. The manufacturer has not commented on any injuries related to the recall.
To address the problem, Toyota dealers will inspect the fuel tube connection and install a supplemental clamp. If necessary, the resin fuel tube will be replaced along with the clamp. Toyota is scheduled to notify affected vehicle owners between November 29 and December 13 to arrange for these repairs.
