A group of international tourists experienced a harrowing incident on July 9th when their tour bus started sliding uncontrollably towards the edge of the Sumidero Canyon in Chiapas, Mexico. The canyon features limestone cliffs rising up to 1,000 meters. As the bus rolled backward, many passengers, fearing a plunge into the abyss, jumped from the vehicle.
The terrifying event, described by one tourist as the most frightening of his life, concluded when the bus struck a bollard, halting its descent just short of the cliff edge. Despite the averted catastrophe, several tourists sustained injuries while escaping, requiring hospital treatment. One passenger was left bleeding significantly after hitting a parked car while leaping from the bus.
