Tibet Floods: Hundreds Missing in Devastating Deluge

Devastating flash floods have struck areas along the China-Nepal border in Tibet, resulting in significant casualties and hundreds missing. President Xi Jinping has directed that all-out efforts be made for search and rescue operations. The disaster, triggered by a mudslide on Wednesday morning, has left nearly 400 individuals unaccounted for, including a substantial number of Indian nationals. Rescuers face challenges as communications have been cut off in some affected areas, with drone footage revealing buildings buried under debris. In addition to the missing, four people have been confirmed dead in Nepal, where the floods caused extensive damage to settlements and at least a dozen hydropower projects. China's embassy in Nepal has activated its emergency response and issued safety advisories, while Chinese authorities deployed emergency personnel to the disaster site. The situation remains critical as rescue and emergency response operations continue on both sides of the affected border.
