20 Jul
Summary
- Buck Wild Animal Rescue destroyed by severe flooding in Texas.
- The rescue faced its second major flood within one year.
- All animals were saved by the owner during the recent deluge.

A year after experiencing devastating floods, Kerrville, Texas, has been hit by another severe weather event. The region, particularly Ingram, Texas, witnessed a year's worth of rain fall in just five days in July 2026. The Guadalupe River rose 16 feet in 30 minutes on July 16, 2026, inundating Buck Wild Animal Rescue and Wildlife Rehab.
This recent flood is considered worse than the one that occurred between July 3 and July 5, 2025, which killed 119 people in Kerr County. The rescue facility had half of its property destroyed, including enclosures by the river and essential equipment. Owner Katie Buck managed to rescue all hundreds of animals, including a porcupine, during the flash flood.
As waters recede, the extent of the destruction is becoming clear, with mud, debris, and damaged infrastructure evident. Despite the challenges, Buck Wild Animal Rescue continues to take in injured and displaced young animals. The team remains determined to rebuild, though the decision to relocate due to recurring flooding is still under consideration.
