A young child in Midlothian, Texas, suffered severe injuries on March 22 following an attack by the family's pit bull mix dog. The incident took place at Pecan Acres Mobile Park when the dog unexpectedly attacked the toddler, identified as Julius.
His mother, Kelsey Marie Welch, recounted the harrowing moments, describing how she fought to free her son from the dog's grip. The animal reportedly latched onto her leg as well before she managed to secure it in the room.
Julius was airlifted to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, where he underwent a lengthy nine-hour surgery and received a blood transfusion. He is now in recovery, with his breathing tube removed and showing signs of consciousness.
The family had owned the dog since it was a puppy, and it had never displayed aggressive behavior prior to the attack. The dog was euthanized following the incident, and authorities have stated no charges will be filed.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by a family friend to help cover Julius's extensive medical costs and related expenses incurred during his recovery and hospital visits.
