A serious crash on Saturday, January 3, sent a METRO bus falling from a highway overpass in Texas, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident occurred near the McGowen Street overpass above Highways 59 and 288. Fourteen individuals, including 13 passengers and the driver of another vehicle, sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
The bus is believed to have been struck from behind by another vehicle, causing it to go off the bridge and partially overturn. One passenger was critically injured and required rescue by the Houston Fire Department using the 'jaws of life.' The driver of the car that allegedly caused the collision was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Emergency services, including multiple fire and police departments, worked together through the night to manage the scene and ensure a swift response. The damaged bus was later removed from the embankment. Authorities expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts and extended thoughts to those affected by the challenging situation.
