- Cybercabs are Tesla's new autonomous gold-colored vehicles.
An Amazon Prime Air cargo plane experienced a malfunction and crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, narrowly missing a parking lot containing numerous Tesla Cybercabs. The crash resulted in five fatalities. The autonomous, gold-colored Cybercabs, which lack steering wheels and pedals, were recently made available for ride-hailing in a limited area of Austin, Texas. Tesla has also been manufacturing these vehicles at its Gigafactory in Texas, with a capacity of 125,000 per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated a safety investigation into Tesla's Cybercab certification process. While some Cybercabs are operating commercially in Texas, others have been spotted in various states, sometimes equipped with steering wheels and pedals. Tesla has not yet commented on the reason for the Cybercabs' presence in Miami or the potential impact on future service rollouts.
