Court Slams Telangana Over Pharma Blast Negligence

The Telangana high court has sharply criticized the state and its investigating agency for their lack of preparedness in addressing concerns surrounding the Sigachi Pharma blast. The court, in a public interest litigation hearing, emphasized the accumulation of negligence leading to such incidents and questioned the complicity of statutory regulatory authorities. It stressed the need for accountability, suggesting that consequences are necessary for learning.

The bench also highlighted disparities in compensation, noting that while permanent employees received adequate payments, contract and unskilled laborers were given paltry sums. To aid the investigation, the court appointed an advocate as an amicus curiae. It directed the continuation of the investigation against individuals deemed responsible or negligent.
