A multi-agency search operation concluded tragically with the discovery of a teenager's body in the Blue Mountains, approximately 60km from Sydney. The 17-year-old had embarked on a camping trip on January 27th with a friend.
Their journey began at Leura Train Station, proceeding on foot towards Mt Hay. When the pair failed to return as expected, a significant search was initiated, involving local police, the Blue Mountains Rescue Squad, PolAir, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and the TOLL Rescue Helicopter.
The body was located on January 29th by police, marking the end of the intensive search efforts. Authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death. A report will subsequently be prepared for the Coroner's information.
