A 16-year-old girl, Adasyn Wood Savin, lost her life in a tragic all-terrain vehicle collision while on school holidays in Rosebery, Tasmania. She was riding on the back of a quad bike with a 38-year-old family friend when their vehicle crashed into a utility truck on the Murchison Highway.
Tragically, both Adasyn and the family friend died at the scene, despite efforts by interstate tourists to save them. The driver of the utility truck was uninjured and underwent mandatory testing. The incident marks the first road fatality in Tasmania this year, with ATVs involved in over 20 deaths since 2020.
A fundraiser has been initiated to support Adasyn's mother in bringing her daughter's body home to Newcastle, NSW. This is a devastating second loss for Adasyn's parents, who had previously mourned the death of her younger brother, Cooper. Loved ones remember Adasyn as a "sweet" and "beautiful" girl, now reunited with her brother in spirit.
