Two teenagers are recovering after a terrifying ordeal in Utah's Butterfield Canyon, where their truck slid off the road and rolled an estimated 12 to 15 times. The vehicle eventually came to rest upside down against a tree. Despite severe injuries, both managed to exit the wreckage.
One teen, struggling with dizziness, called 911 from near the crash site. Meanwhile, the other teen, fearing for their safety, began a difficult climb up the steep hillside. During her ascent, she had a frightening encounter with a mountain lion but remained still until it left.
She reached the top of the hill and was met by an ambulance, while the other teen was airlifted to a hospital. Both suffered extensive injuries, including fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and spine fractures. They are now advocating for safety improvements, such as guardrails and reflective markers, on the winding canyon road, citing other crashed vehicles they observed.
