Teen Hero Honored for Daring Sea Rescue

Callum Baker-Osborne, an 18-year-old from Coventry, has been posthumously honored with the King's Commendation for Bravery. This award recognizes his courageous actions on July 26, 2021, when he saved his younger relatives from drowning at Poole beach in Dorset.
While on a caravan holiday, several children in Baker-Osborne's family were pulled into deep water by a dangerous rip current. Despite successfully saving them all, Baker-Osborne tragically drowned. His body was discovered four days later approximately a mile from where he entered the water.
His sister, Samantha Grady, expressed profound relief and validation upon hearing about the award. She described Callum as the 'life and soul of the party' and someone who consistently went out of his way to help others. The family has since dedicated themselves to charitable work in his memory.
