A 15-year-old from Oklahoma City tragically drowned at Lake Eufaula on Thursday, July 23. The incident took place just after noon in Pittsburg County, approximately 5.5 miles southeast of Eufaula.
The teenager was swimming in the sandy beach area before reportedly running to a private dock to jump into the water. Reports indicate that after jumping, the victim began to struggle for reasons yet unknown and failed to resurface. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) has withheld the victim's name.
Emergency services, including the OHP Dive Team, Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office, and Pittsburg County EMS, responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased at the location and subsequently transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa. The exact cause of the drowning remains under investigation.
