- An inquest recorded a conclusion of misadventure for one teen.

Two 16-year-old boys, Joshua Myers and Jordan Everett, suffered fatal injuries when they were both struck by an express train near Poynton station in Cheshire on July 3 last year. An inquest into Joshua's death heard that he had scaled a fence and gone onto the London to Manchester railway line. His friend, Jordan, followed and attempted to pull Joshua to safety, but both were hit by the oncoming train. The driver attempted to stop but could not react in time.
The inquest heard that Joshua had spoken of wanting to end his life, but his parents stated he did not intend to die. He had been struggling with social issues, bullying, and substance use, and was on bail for a sexual assault allegation at the time of his death. His mother expressed that he was failed by professionals and services he encountered.
Coroner Jacqueline Devonish recorded a conclusion of misadventure for Joshua Myers, stating there was no evidence of intent to take his own life. Jordan Everett's inquest is scheduled to be heard separately. Tributes described Jordan as a caring and thoughtful young man who died trying to save his friend.
