A tragic incident in Sydney's south-west resulted in the deaths of two young siblings, five-year-old Katherine and her one-year-old brother Harry. The children were with their mother, Sok, who was picking up Katherine from kindergarten after she received an award, when they were struck by an SUV. Bystanders rushed to the scene and performed a heroic act, lifting the vehicle to rescue one of the children trapped beneath it.
Paramedics provided treatment at the scene before transporting the children to a hospital, where they tragically passed away. The 56-year-old driver of the SUV was arrested and underwent mandatory testing. He was later released pending the ongoing police investigation into the collision. Authorities are appealing for witnesses and any available CCTV or dashcam footage to assist their inquiry.
