Sydney Building Collapse: Two Hurt, Search Underway

A sudden structural failure occurred on Monday morning in Ultimo, an inner Sydney suburb, when the roof and wall of a building under construction collapsed. The incident happened around 11 am on Wattle Street, sending debris onto the street and a neighboring petrol station. Two men, one in his 30s and another in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital by ambulance personnel. Fortunately, an additional five people at the scene were assessed by paramedics and released without needing further medical attention. Fire and Rescue NSW reported that a portion of the building gave way, with debris affecting parked vehicles. Urban search and rescue teams were deployed, and police managed the scene, including evacuations of the construction site and nearby buildings. The public was advised to avoid the area.
