In Kendrapada district, a devastating incident occurred during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Jayakrushnapur village on Thursday night. A 19-year-old college student, identified as Nikhili Behura, tragically lost his life after being electrocuted.

The accident happened when a DJ vehicle, equipped with a sound system, inadvertently came into contact with an overhead high-voltage power line. Several youths carrying the Ganesh idol were near the vehicle at the time.

Nikhili Behura, a Plus II Arts student, sustained severe electric burns and was declared dead at the district headquarters hospital. Three other individuals were also seriously injured and have been referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to their critical condition.
