A trip to a scenic quarry in Telangana's Medchal-Malkajgiri district, inspired by Instagram reels, ended tragically on Friday. Pavan Sai, an 18-year-old first-year BTech student, drowned in the quarry's deep waters. He was part of a group of 12 college students visiting the location for photographs.
Two students ventured into the water, with Pavan attempting to swim between rocks. He tragically drowned as he could not swim. Information about the incident reached officials Friday evening, prompting an immediate rescue operation by the Disaster Response Force.
The rescue was complicated by the quarry's steep rock faces, but rescuers successfully recovered Pavan's body from the water. Police took custody of the body for a postmortem examination, and a case has been registered.
