Spokane Remembers 9/11 with Vigils and Rides

As the 25th anniversary of September 11th approaches, the Spokane area is preparing to honor the victims with several commemorative events. On Friday, September 11th, a special ceremony will rededicate the 9/11 Memorial at Riverside Memorial Park at 11 a.m., featuring remarks from local officials and first responders. Earlier that morning, at 8 a.m., Spokane County Fire District 10 and the Airway Heights Police Department will host their own public commemoration.
Further remembrance activities are scheduled for Saturday, September 12th. North of Spokane, the Annual American Legion Riders will conduct a 9/11 Remembrance Ride through Pend Oreille County, beginning with registration at 8 a.m. in Colville. In Mead, the March for the Fallen will take place in Riverside State Park, honoring post-9/11 fallen military members, with activities running from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In neighboring Coeur d'Alene, multiple ceremonies are planned for September 11th. The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department will hold a flag-lowering ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Fallen Heroes' Plaza. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with local businesses, will also host a memorial service at the Silver Lake Mall at 11 a.m.
