Speeding Car Rams into Durga Puja Procession, Injuring Six in Prayagraj

On Tuesday, a disturbing incident unfolded in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, as a speeding and uncontrolled car crashed into a Durga Puja immersion procession, leaving six people injured. The accident, which was captured on CCTV, shows the vehicle striking a bike before plowing into a crowd of people dancing to DJ music.
Among the injured is Lal Mohammad, the bike rider, who sustained a leg fracture and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Five other individuals in the procession were also hurt, including three women named Sanjana, Pooja, and Lalita, who are being treated at SRN Hospital, Medical College. One of the women has suffered a leg fracture, while the remaining two sustained minor injuries. The rest of the injured were released after receiving first aid.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, Mukesh Saroj, a car mechanic by profession, was en route to return the vehicle to its owner after completing repairs. Another video from the scene shows people taking the car driver out and beating him before handing him over to the police. The car has since been seized, and legal proceedings have been initiated against Mukesh Saroj on charges of negligent driving.
Despite the incident, the Durga Puja immersion procession was able to successfully complete the idol immersion, and peace has been restored in the area, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Ganganagar Zone, Kuldeep Singh Gunawat.
