Trejo, who was in Caracas with his team at the time of the earthquakes, immediately traveled to the disaster zone upon learning of the collapse. He joined a somber 74-hour search effort alongside firefighters, military personnel, and volunteers, desperately hoping for his family's survival. His father and brother also traveled from Argentina to support the search.
Tragically, rescue crews recovered the bodies of Trejo's wife and children, concluding the extensive search. The Venezuelan soccer community has been deeply affected by the tragedy, with many players, including close friend Edson Tortolero, expressing their grief and offering support to Trejo during this unimaginable loss. Club Sport Maritimo de La Guaira issued a statement of condolence, sharing in the club's and the wider community's sorrow.
