Six young friends from Pune tragically perished after their SUV plunged approximately 500 feet into a gorge in Tamhini Ghat, near Mangaon. The victims, aged between 18 and 24, were on a trip to Diveagar when the incident occurred sometime on the night of November 17 or 18. Police suspect the driver lost control on a sharp bend, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and break through a safety railing.
The group's families became concerned after they remained untraceable for nearly 48 hours, initiating their own search efforts. A missing person report was filed, and police utilized mobile tower locations and a drone camera to locate the vehicle and recover all six bodies from the deep gorge. The victims, all from humble backgrounds, had pooled their savings to start a joint food cart business.
