The incident began when a lorry carrying wooden logs encountered a barricade. While the driver and a police constable were attempting to reposition the damaged barricade on the roadside, a speeding SUV rapidly approached.
The SUV, traveling from Mayiladuthurai to Coimbatore, tragically collided with the constable and the driver, then veered into the parked lorry. All six people involved in the immediate vicinity were killed instantly.
Vellakoil police responded swiftly, recovering the bodies and sending them for post-mortem examination. Senior officials visited the scene, and a thorough investigation into the accident is currently underway.
