Bystanders Rescue Man From Collapsing Roadway

In Omaha, Nebraska, Olivia Borsutzki and Esra Kurban were driving home when they witnessed a car fall into a rapidly forming sinkhole at an intersection. The sinkhole, caused by a broken water pipe, was approximately 15 feet deep, with two cars teetering at its edge.

Borsutzki immediately exited her vehicle to assist a man trapped in the hole. With the help of another bystander, she managed to pull the man to safety from the rushing water and unstable pavement. Kurban observed the scene and noted the shock of her parents in Istanbul.

The rescue was captured on video and subsequently shared widely on social media, particularly on Borsutzki's TikTok account, where it rapidly gained over 1.6 million likes. The incident also drew attention from local authorities, who arrived shortly after the rescue.

The two women expressed that while the event was frightening, their primary focus was on helping the trapped individual. They emphasized the importance of immediate action over recording the event, a sentiment that resonated with many viewers online.
