Repair work is now underway at The Three Fishes pub in Bayston Hill, Shropshire, a significant development 18 months after a lorry caused substantial damage to the building. Black Country Ales, the pub's owner, has indicated that the extensive restoration project is expected to take 20 weeks to complete.
The company had finalized its acquisition of the pub just before the lorry collision. They cited delays due to negotiations with their insurers as a factor in the extended timeline. Black Country Ales expressed gratitude for the community's patience during what they described as a challenging period.
Planning permission for the proposed renovations to the building, located on the A49, was officially granted in March 2025. The planned upgrades include the reinstatement of the left side of the structure, the creation of an enlarged bar and cellar area, and the development of accommodation on the first floor, along with a smoking shelter. The pub chain has stated that a reopening date will be announced closer to the completion of the work. Meanwhile, the adjacent Chinese takeaway, which also sustained damage, has since resumed operations.
