Sewage Nightmare Floods Spanish Holiday Hotspot

On October 29, 2025, residents of the Spanish resort town of Fuengirola were shocked to witness a disturbing scene as heavy rains caused sewage to bubble up through the ground. Shocking images and video footage show a manhole cover being lifted by the rising sewage, which then spilled onto the pavement, turning the area a murky brown color.

The pounding rain had liquefied the waste, causing it to quickly flood the surrounding streets. A local passer-by commented on the "awful" smell emanating from the scene. Authorities have responded, with a spokesperson from the town hall stating that a special team is in place to inspect the area and take necessary action to restore normalcy.

This incident comes just one month after an explosion on a tourist boat in the nearby Costa del Sol resort left eight people injured, three of them seriously. The cause of that incident is still under investigation. The latest sewage spill is part of the chaos that has gripped Spain's Andalusia region, which has been battered by a violent storm bringing torrential rain, tornadoes, and flash floods.
