A vacation to Sardinia for a music festival became a traumatic ordeal for Annie Perez, 38, after she experienced a seizure in a hot shower. The incident, which occurred in June 2022, led to severe burns on her right arm and both legs, covering 11 percent of her body. Some of these burns were so deep they reached the bone.
Following the accident, Annie was airlifted to a hospital and later transferred to London for treatment, remaining hospitalized for several weeks. The severe nature of her injuries rendered her unable to walk independently for approximately 18 months, initially requiring a wheelchair and later mobility aids.
More than three years later, Annie is still undergoing various therapies, including laser, physiotherapy, and hydrotherapy, for her injuries and nerve damage. Despite the challenges, she revisited Sardinia a year after the incident and is now focusing on personal goals, including fundraising for egg freezing.
