A catastrophic road accident on the Kalyan-Murbad highway on Monday morning resulted in the deaths of eleven individuals. Among the victims were three siblings from Diva: Neha (19), Mansi (22), and Prathamesh (15). Their mother, Anjana Mohape, a domestic worker, is now left with only two surviving children, having previously lost her husband to cancer five years ago.
The three siblings were traveling to their native village in Murbad for a vacation when their shared taxi was involved in the fatal collision. This incident has plunged multiple families into despair, as many of the deceased were crucial earners.
One such family is that of Ganpati Madhe, a farmer from Murbad, who was on his way back from purchasing medicines for his wife. Deepak Gavli, a bank employee, and Bhushan Ghorpade, a revenue assistant, were also among those who perished while traveling for work.
Authorities are still working to identify two of the deceased victims, as they had no identification or mobile phones on them. The accident has cast a dark shadow of grief and anguish over the region, highlighting the profound human cost of such road tragedies.
