On Tuesday evening, deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a large bull loose on Highway 35. After several unsuccessful hours attempting to manage the unyielding animal, authorities sought assistance from Samuel Ramos Palomino, a local ranch foreman with 35 years of experience working with large animals.
Palomino, despite needing to start work at 4 a.m., immediately responded to the late-night call. He worked alongside sheriff's deputies and highway patrol officers, employing his extensive expertise to eventually secure the bull. He then safely loaded the animal into his trailer and provided a secure location for it until it could be returned to its home at daybreak.
The sheriff's department commended Palomino's intervention, stating that his courage and skill likely prevented a serious collision or injury on the busy highway. Coastside Patrol Bureau Capt. Allen and Half Moon Bay City Manager Chidester met with Palomino to express their gratitude for his critical assistance.
