In Rajkot, a distressing incident unfolded late Saturday night as a retired deputy engineer of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and his wife passed away after allegedly consuming poison at their home.
The couple, identified as 70-year-old Rajendra Lakhtariya and his 66-year-old wife Panna, were discovered by their daughter after their health rapidly declined. Emergency services were called, and they were rushed to a private hospital where they were pronounced dead.
A suicide note recovered by University Police stated that the couple chose to end their lives due to severe, prolonged health issues, emphasizing their contentment with family life and lack of financial burdens. Rajendra Lakhtariya had reportedly resigned from his position at RMC a few months prior to his scheduled retirement.
