A tragic fire in Rajkot's Manmandir Apartments on Palace Road late Wednesday night has resulted in the deaths of a 92-year-old woman, Prabha Pujara, and her 61-year-old son, Narendra Pujara. The fire, which broke out around 10:45 PM, tragically trapped the mother and son inside their fourth-floor flat.
First responders found the occupants unconscious and immediately transported them to the civil hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. Police suspect that a combination of burns and suffocation led to their deaths. The blaze completely destroyed electronic items in the kitchen and hall, prompting an investigation by the Forensic Science Laboratory team.
Family members arrived to find the main door latched from the inside, necessitating a forced entry. They reported that no AC or lights were operational when the fire started and believe suffocation was the primary cause of death. The Pujara family had been planning to relocate to a new home within the month.
