A devastating incident in Pune led to the death of a five-year-old girl, Sanskruti Biradar, on Monday. The child was playing near her home in Sainathnagar when a PCMC garbage truck struck a parked motorcycle. The impact caused the motorcycle to fall onto Sanskruti, subsequently leading to her being run over by the truck's wheels.
Investigations revealed that the garbage truck was being driven by Rahul Chauhan, a 28-year-old helper who did not possess a driving license. The truck's actual driver, Raju Gaikwad, was aware of Chauhan's unlicensed status but permitted him to operate the vehicle. Both individuals have since been arrested by Nigdi police.
They face charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The victim's father operates a snack stall, and her pregnant mother is reportedly in shock following the tragedy.
