On October 23rd, a tragic incident occurred in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, when a boat carrying eight people capsized in the Gorra river near Karhi Ghat. A 15-year-old boy, identified as Krishna Chaturvedi, went missing after the accident.
According to the police, the incident happened when the boatman, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, started the engine abruptly while the passengers were getting off the boat. The old, rickety boat hit an obstruction, cracked open, and began filling with water before overturning. Locals managed to rescue seven people, but Krishna Chaturvedi, who was studying in Vadodara, Gujarat, and training in cricket, remained missing.
Krishna's father, Madnesh Chaturvedi, said he was holding his son's hand, but a sudden jerk made him lose his grip, and the strong current swept the boy away. Krishna had returned home for the Diwali holidays, and his family said he dreamed of becoming a professional cricketer.
Authorities, including the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police, visited the site and assured that a permanent bridge would be constructed soon to prevent such incidents in the future. The search for the missing teenager continues, and the local community is deeply saddened by this tragic loss.
