A tragic incident in Anaheim early Sunday morning resulted in the deaths of a 24-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child. Bianca Esquivel, who was expecting her second child, was in a vehicle with her boyfriend when a suspected drunk driver reportedly ran a red light and struck them. The crash occurred shortly after they had left an In-N-Out restaurant.
Bianca's sister, Viri Esquivel, was alerted to the crash via her phone's emergency contact feature, which flagged the collision and provided the exact location. The driver, 24-year-old Daniel Ramos from Riverside, was subsequently arrested and booked on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
Family members described Bianca as a homebody devoted to her family, who was pursuing a career in accounting. Her death leaves behind a 4-year-old son, who is now without his mother. The boyfriend, who sustained injuries in the crash, expressed his devastation, noting that Bianca was his best friend and that they were excited about their growing family. Additional charges are possible due to the victim's pregnancy.
