A heroic act of bravery occurred recently when Logan Hayes rescued Sheldy Apollon, a 34-week pregnant woman, from her car after it plunged into a frigid Florida pond. Apollon had been driving on her birthday, February 6, when she began feeling unwell due to pre-eclampsia and attempted to pull over.
Unfortunately, her vehicle instead rolled into a nearby pond. Hayes, a passerby, witnessed the incident and immediately dove into the cold water, despite the low temperatures. He managed to reach the submerged car and assist Apollon in escaping through a rear door.
Just moments after Apollon was safely brought to shore by Hayes, her car completely sank. Emergency responders, who had been alerted, were on the scene to provide immediate medical attention. Apollon was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood hospital.
At the hospital, doctors performed an emergency C-section, and Apollon gave birth to a baby girl named Ivory Atara, weighing 3 lbs, 14 oz. Medical professionals emphasized the critical role Hayes's swift actions played in ensuring both Apollon's and her unborn child's survival, highlighting the profound impact of his courage.
