7 Jul
Summary
- Heavy rains and windstorms caused roof and wall collapses, injuring eight.
- Power outages affected numerous grid stations and feeders across Peshawar.
- Torrential rains inundated roads, leading to significant traffic gridlocks.

Peshawar experienced a severe weather event on Monday afternoon, with heavy rain and windstorms leading to at least eight injuries due to roof and wall collapses in several localities. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) reported that windstorms caused 200 feeders across 12 grid stations to trip, disrupting electricity supply. While power has been restored to some feeders, efforts are ongoing for the rest.
The downpour also flooded Kohat Road, causing extensive traffic delays. In Lower South Waziristan, a similar storm uprooted power poles, cut off electricity to Wana and surrounding areas, and damaged educational infrastructure, including a girls' hostel boundary wall. Dozens of solar panels were also damaged on residential and commercial buildings.
Flash floods from seasonal streams disrupted traffic in Wana tehsil. The provincial capital recorded 10mm of rainfall in the preceding 24 hours, with other areas like Dir and Kakul receiving more. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority had previously warned of scattered rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms across the province from July 6 night to July 8, predicting potential damage to crops, structures, and landslides in vulnerable areas.
