A fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident occurred early Sunday morning in Paris, Illinois, resulting in the death of a local resident. The victim has been identified as Jason A. Lister, 43, of Paris.
The incident took place around 1:27 a.m. when emergency services received a call about a car striking a pedestrian on Main Street, near Roberts Street. Authorities determined that a 2013 Lincoln sedan, driven by an individual from Vermilion County, Illinois, was traveling north on Main Street when it hit Lister, who was in the middle of the road.
Lister was rushed to Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon in Springfield, Illinois. The Paris Police Department and the Edgar County Coroner's office are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
