13 Jul
Summary
- A man paralysed after a 2025 crash is fundraising for air ambulance.
- He credits the air ambulance for his swift arrival at the hospital.
- An 'inflatable Olympics' event is planned to raise funds.

Dean Harris, who sustained paralysis from the chest down after a motorbike collision in June 2025, is initiating a fundraising campaign for the Midlands Air Ambulance. This vital service was instrumental in his survival following the accident on the Eastern Primary in Telford. Harris experienced severe injuries, including multiple spinal fractures.
He recalls the critical moments after the crash, recognizing the potential spinal cord injury and the subsequent struggle while awaiting land ambulance arrival. The dispatched air ambulance significantly reduced his transport time to Royal Stoke Hospital, a factor Harris deeply appreciates. His recovery involved over eight weeks in intensive care and subsequent rehabilitation.
To express his gratitude, Harris, along with his employer at the Mercure Hotel in Telford, is organizing an 'inflatable Olympics' event. This initiative aims to raise funds for the air ambulance charity, which operates solely on donations, with each mission costing approximately £2,950. The event features an obstacle course, music, and competitions.
