Three young men tragically lost their lives on Friday evening near Palghar railway station after being struck by a passing goods train. The victims, identified as Swapnil Shailesh Palande (23), Kunal Kumar Dubla (23), and Afroz Khalil Sheikh (28), all resided in Virendra Nagar, Palghar East.
The Palghar Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered an Accidental Death Report and is conducting an investigation into the incident, which occurred around 7:20 PM. GRP personnel recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination before handing them over to the families.
Tension has surfaced in the locality, with relatives alleging that police personnel in plain clothes were chasing the youths. They claim this pursuit forced the young men onto the railway tracks, leading to the fatal collision with the goods train travelling from Mumbai to Gujarat.
Senior inspector Sachin Ingavale confirmed the investigation is ongoing. The loco pilot of the goods train stated that the youths were crossing the tracks when the accident happened. No CCTV cameras were installed at the precise location of the incident.
