A tragic incident unfolded in Palghar's Nalasopara area on Sunday morning when a scooty rider, Mahesh Desai, lost his life after his vehicle hit a large pothole. The accident, occurring around 8 am, caused Desai to fall beneath a truck that subsequently ran over him. His colleague, Lavkush Verma, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
The immediate aftermath saw public fury erupt as eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver fled the scene. Shortly after, an unidentified group set the abandoned truck ablaze, plunging the area into chaos and causing a substantial traffic jam. This act of arson underscored the deep-seated anger among residents concerning the poor condition of local roads.
Local residents have voiced strong condemnation, attributing the fatality to administrative negligence and labeling the potholes as 'death traps.'
