He then towed the injured woman, who was too weak to climb onto his board, towards the shore, providing encouragement. Upon reaching the beach, lifeguards and an off-duty doctor quickly provided first aid. The woman was transported to St Vincent's Hospital in critical condition. Verco expressed gratitude for his Surf Life Saving training, which equipped him to respond effectively during the emergency. His father also assisted by searching for the shark after the incident.
