A major fire broke out at the Pachpadra refinery in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU), sending thick smoke into the air.
This fire erupted just one day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate a significant unit at the facility on April 21. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, and efforts to control the blaze were initiated.
As a precautionary measure, the CDU and nearby areas were evacuated. Senior state officials visited the site to oversee the situation. The refinery project, initially laid in 2013, has undergone revisions in its cost and relaunch.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
