A devastating road accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Abdullapurmet resulted in the deaths of four individuals from the same family. The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when a Volkswagen Polo, reportedly driven by Bengaluru-based software engineer Veda Prakash Reddy, collided with a stationary water tanker.
Veda Prakash Reddy died at the scene. His wife, Himabindu, their young son Arjun, and his cousin Durga Prasad Reddy and his wife Srija, all tech professionals, sustained severe injuries. Arjun passed away Tuesday evening, followed by Himabindu and Durga Prasad Reddy later that night. Srija is currently in critical condition.
Authorities have registered a case against the tanker driver. The HMDA tanker was watering median plants at the time of the collision. Police noted the absence of safety cones to alert traffic, leading to charges of causing death and injury due to negligence against the driver.
