Ashburnham resident and Oakmont Regional High School senior Travis Teixeira, aged 18, died on Friday, March 20, 2026, following a severe vehicle accident. The incident occurred on Route 2 East in Leominster, where the vehicle he occupied fell from an overpass onto Nashua Street below. Teixeira was scheduled to graduate in May and had already been accepted into several colleges.
His mother expressed profound grief, stating, "His life ended before it really got started." Oakmont Regional High School Principal Jeffrey Lizotte informed the school community of the tragedy, offering the school library as a space for comfort and support, with grief counselors and therapy dogs available for students.
Teixeira also worked at the school district's extended day program and at the Blueprint New American Bar & Grill. The restaurant closed for the weekend to allow staff to cope with the loss of their colleague. A GoFundMe account, initiated by his uncle, Sean Quick, aims to cover funeral costs and support his family during this difficult time. As of March 23, 2026, the fund had raised nearly $71,000 from over 900 donors.
State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Troopers from the Leominster Barracks, along with the Worcester County State Police Detective Unit and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, responded to the scene.
