The deputies were stationed on Southern Boulevard in Florida when their motorcycles and they were struck by an SUV allegedly driven by Blue.
Florida Highway Patrol's investigation indicates Blue was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee unsafely and significantly exceeding the 55 mph speed limit. She was reportedly attempting to pass a slower vehicle on the right when she veered into the officers. Blue stated she had recently completed an overnight shift in the emergency room and was taking an unfamiliar route home.
State Attorney Alexcia Cox emphasized that the charges follow a thorough review of evidence, marking a step towards justice for the deputies' families. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. local time, a half-mile west of Lion Country Safari Road.
