19 May
Summary
- Red Flag Warning signals extreme wildfire danger this weekend.
- PG&E may shut off power to 7,382 customers in 15 counties.
- Medical Baseline customers are also at risk of power disruptions.

A significant portion of Northern California is anticipating potential widespread power outages this weekend due to a Red Flag Warning. Officials have cited a dangerous combination of strong winds, extreme dryness, and brittle vegetation, which significantly heightens the risk of fast-moving wildfires.
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is preparing for possible Public Safety Power Shutoffs that could impact an estimated 7,382 customers. These potential shutoffs span 15 counties, with San Joaquin County expecting the largest number of affected customers. The utility has also alerted 296 Medical Baseline customers who depend on electricity for essential medical equipment.
Power could be cut as early as Sunday morning and may extend into Monday, contingent on evolving conditions. PG&E began notifying customers about 48 hours before any potential shutdowns. Local leaders are actively coordinating with PG&E and emergency services to assist residents in preparing for possible extended outages.
