As of Wednesday, eight tornadoes had been confirmed across the region. On Tuesday alone, an EF-3 tornado with winds up to 145 mph struck Mineral Wells, injuring several people and tearing through an industrial park. Johnson County also reported three tornadoes, numerous hail events, and damaging winds.
These recent storms followed intense weekend weather that resulted in at least two fatalities. In Parker County, a Saturday storm caused the death of Kathleen Lietzke, while in Wise County, 51-year-old Juan Madrid was identified as a victim of the severe weather. The National Weather Service confirmed preliminary tornado data, including an EF-1 in Springtown and an EF-2 in Runaway Bay, with winds reaching 135 mph.
