Fog Forces Speed Limit Cut on Noida Expressways
14 Dec
Summary
- Speed limits on Noida, Yamuna Expressways reduced from 100 to 75 kmph.
- Reductions are an annual measure due to poor fog-related visibility.
- Heavy vehicles face even lower limits on Noida and Yamuna Expressways.

Speed limits across major Noida expressways, including the Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and Noida Elevated Road, have been reduced from 100 kmph to 75 kmph. This annual revision, effective from December 15 to February 15, 2026, is a direct response to the decreased visibility associated with the winter fog season. Traffic police are installing updated signage to reflect these changes.
For heavy vehicles, the speed limit on the Noida Expressway will be lowered to 50 kmph, while on the Yamuna Expressway, it will be set at 60 kmph. The Noida Elevated Road will see a revised limit of 50 kmph for light vehicles and 40 kmph for heavy vehicles. These adjustments are part of ongoing safety initiatives to mitigate potential accidents during periods of reduced visibility.
Authorities are reinforcing these new limits with strict monitoring and penalties for violations. Jaypee Infratech is also implementing enhanced safety measures on the Yamuna Expressway, including improved signage, fog lights, and support for truck drivers. Fines for speeding violations in Noida range from Rs 2,000 for light vehicles to Rs 4,000 for heavy vehicles.
